Important Tips for the First Time RV Buyer

You have spent years watching RVs pass by you on back roads and major highways all over America, dreaming of the time you would find yourself behind the wheel of one of these "homes away from home." Now you are ready... at least that is what you believe.

In truth, this may be the right time for you to buy a new or used RV. Each presents you with a great value because RVs are luxury vehicles with kitchens, bedroom areas, a dining area, and a den area - almost all of the comforts of home. However, a RV can be - and often is - the second most important investment you are likely to make after your home.

RVs provide so many great benefits for families like yours. Consider...

They are remarkably affordable when compared to other forms of family travel that include air travel and stays in expensive hotels.

They provide you with lots of flexibility and convenience because you can park a RV in your driveway, then just get up, and go when you are ready to "hit the road."

They give you the ability to travel anywhere at any time - "off the beaten path" - so that you can visit, experience - and enjoy - parts of America generally not accessible to those who do not own a RV. That is special. And that's why...

It is important - critically important - to know what you are doing when you decide to buy a new or used RV so that you avoid costly mistakes.

In fact, if you are buying your first RV, here are some tips you need to follow. To begin:

Whether you intend to purchase a new or used camper, it is essential to make sure your current credit history is solid. If you have a high credit rating - over 700 - you are going to qualify for the lowest possible interest rate on your loan... and you will save money over the life of the loan - lots of it.

Prices vary for RVs. The same model camper may be cheaper at one dealer than it is at another dealer. So... shop carefully and shop around. Spend a little time doing your homework and you will get the best possible deal... and save money in the process.

RVs are vehicles, of course and require insurance. In this case, the coverage you need to buy is considered specialty insurance. If you already have an insurance agent, check with him/her first. If not, search online for the best possible deal. There are many exotic coverage options for RVs, many of which you probably do not need. Purchase only what you know you need and, once again, you will save money.

Finally, you have to decide if you are going to buy "new or used." It is an important decision because the difference in cost can be significant. If buying new, visit a respected dealer, someone you can trust.

If buying used, make sure you get information that covers the vehicle's entire past history. If the seller cannot provide that history, do not buy that RV. You will find countless others available that can provide past history. Remember: used vehicles are generally purchased "as is."

It is important to note that most dealers carry a wide assortment of used RV's as well as new, and that some of the used RVs that you can get from a dealer come with a factory warranty. If they do not, you can get an extended warranty for used RV's up to 12 years old. It is very important to add an extended warranty at the time you buy either a new or a used RV. They can be purchased from the dealer and included with your financing.

There is a new e-book currently available that has been written specifically for folks - like you - who want to have fun when they travel by RV. It is called "Putting the WOW Into Your Next RV Vacation" and it includes tips and information you can use to really enjoy your RV. Make sure to get your hands on this informational RV eBook.
